At the conclusion of the 2015 GoPro Mountain Games, the four team members of Team Vibram disc golf sailed off into the distance in order to catch their return flights home. Wednesday night as we drove out to Vail from Denver, I asked each of the team members if it would be ok if I interviewed them at some point throughout the weekend. Of course they all agreed, yet we never quite had a chance to sit down and complete the interview that I envisioned.  The Vibram disc golf team was more than happy to be interviewed as we rushed back to Colorado to return to our non-disc golf lives.

Due to Sean Jack’s outstanding performance in the final round of the Disc Golf Championship (sinks a crazy putt from 60′ out to tie for second place and split $1300!), he was invited to be interviewed first.

In case you were wondering what the disc golf rock star life looks like when the players are on tour, check out Team Vibram’s performance on stage at the GoPro Games.

Chris Deitzel followed up Sean Jack’s interview with his thoughts regarding the Disc Golf Experience, and introducing disc golf to the masses. Chris was a huge player behind the scenes on Sunday as he did not participate in the Disc Golf Championship, but instead opted to help Steve Dodge and myself in carrying out the final disc golf round.

It is rare when greatness, skill, and perfection come together in one individual. Michael Jordan and the NBA, Tony Hawk and the skateboard, Vinnie Miller and Vibram disc golf… You could say that Vinnie Miller is kind of a big deal, in fact, if you hang out with him long enough, you will see that he is the Ron Burgundy of disc golf. Women love him, and golfers want to be like him. Even the man, the myth, and the legend took a few (6+ minutes) to share some words of wisdom with the camera.

The concluding player to be interviewed was Chase Hayden, the newest member of the team, and the only amateur player sponsored by Vibram Disc Golf. Interviewing Chase was a real treat. He was very candid and open, and there seemed to be a special bond during the interview process. I felt like I knew what he was going to say as I asked him the prepared questions. This may have been my favorite interview of all time.

Thanks for checking out all of the posts relating to the 2015 GoPro Mountain Games. We had a great time, and really enjoyed our experience there. New friendships were forged, and the love of disc golf was shared with others. Thanks again to the Vail VAlley Foundation for hosting us, and Vibram Disc Golf for sponsoring the sport we cherish.
