Saturday, March 7, 2015 at Oak Meadow Disc Golf Course, the first annual Bridgeland Open was held. William Wallwin from The Bridgeland Flight Club was the tournament director of the event, with Birdshot-DGProShop co-directing the event with him. His integral event was a great success, and the Houston disc golfers look forward to future events that Will and the Bridgeland crew will host. Rumor (and the PDGA events page) has it there is another event in the mix for September 26 from these guys. It should be another good one.

Will and I worked together to make the event a Maple Hill Open qualifier, so many of the local open players were able to not only compete for prize money and bragging rights, but also had the opportunity to solidify their spot in one of disc golf’s premier events, The Maple Hill Open. Steve Dodge from Vibram Disc Golf had a goal to have a nationwide qualifier circuit that would coincide with scheduled events. Over twenty tournaments throughout the United States, and one tournament in Great Britain joined forces to offer qualifying positions to the professional weekend of the Maple Hill Tournament in Leicester, MA.
