Spring Valley Spectacular – PDGA B Tier – October 11, 2014

I was able to participate in my first ever B tier tournament this weekend. Most B tiers tend to be two day events (Sat/Sun), and due to personal/religious preference I tend to not play on Sundays. With that being said, there was a 60% chance of thunderstorms the night before the event, and we all came prepared to play in the rain. I rearranged my bag, taking out some of the “Champion” style plastic that I carry, and added a bunch of Vibram Soft molds just in case. It was not my best round ever(including losing my prized Hyzerbomb Mortar), but we had a lot of fun. I was able to shave 9 strokes off my second round which allowed me to tie for 5th place in my division. Birdshot as always put on an excellent tournament, and Spring Valley Golf and Disc Golf Course was pristine. After the tournament, there was a distance competition (I lost my O-Lace in the water with one of my attempts.. /sadface), and a putting challenge. Southern Star Brewing from Conroe, Texas even donated a keg for the adult beverage drinkers in attendance.

The good news is that it only stormed during the players meeting, and then through the first 3 holes or so the rain slowed to a sprinkle. Within 5 holes, the rain had stopped, and the sun slowly made it’s way out. I had fun, and got to play with some old friends, as well as with some people I had never played with before, one guy coming from Corpus Christi to make the tournament. I wish I would have recorded more videos, as some great shots were made, but unfortunately, I seemed to only record the “less than optimal” attempts. A few videos from the event are below:
